FG Vows To Harness Nigeria’s Tourism Potentials

The minister for information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed yesterday, in Abuja assured that the federal government will do everything within its powers to provide an enabling environment for investors and tourists to thrive.
Lai Mohammed made this assurance at a workshop tagged: “Mainstreaming Tourism into the Economic Agenda of Government: Issues and Challenges.

He said, “Government will continue to create an enabling environment for tourism to thrive. To achieve this we will partner with relevant stakeholders and the organized private sector to make Nigeria a preferred tourism destination.”
The minister stated that the tourism sector is capable of employing millions of youths and improving the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
According to him, “The uniqueness of tourism, as an important economic sector, is also evident in its ability to employ both the skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled manpower.
He said, “For the tourism sector to meet the country’s development expectations, the government on its own part is determined to provide a more conducive environment for investors and potential tourists.”
