ENUGU CP WARN AGAINST EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS



The Enugu state commissioner of police Danmallam Mohammed has reiterated his earlier warning of personnel on stop  and search points as well as other duty post against extortion,intimidation/harassment as well as unprofessional use of fire arms against members of the public contrary to the Force order on the use of Fire Arms.
According to Danmallam,any police officer who engages in all manners of extortion as well as other unprofessional conduct which the Force frowns at,will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations guiding the Force and  therefore reminded officers and men on the need to shun those conduct capable of bringing the image of the Force to disrepute.

Nigeria’s House of Representatives is presently considering what perhaps qualifies as the most dangerous piece of legislation to come before the National Assembly since the return of civilian rule in 1999. It is the NGO Regulation Bill sponsored by the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Umar Buba Jibril. The Bill is stunning in its audacity, far reaching in its scope and a danger to elective government in Nigeria. It should not be allowed to pass.

Strong Igbo Women: The Aba Women's Riot

The "riots" or the war, led by women in the provinces of Calabar and Owerri in southeastern Nigeria in November and December of 1929, became known as the "Aba Women's Riots of 1929" in British colonial history, or as the "Women's War" in Igbo history. 
Thousands of Igbo women organized a massive revolt against the policies imposed by British colonial administrators in southeastern Nigeria, touching off the most serious challenge to British rule in the history of the colony.  The "Women's War" took months for the government to suppress and became a historic example of feminist and anti-colonial protest.
