The First Monarch, Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade is dead. The monarch passed away yesterday evening at his palace by 7:30pm.

Oba Odugade who ascended the throne in 2007 was born in April, 1914. He was 101

Nigeria ranks second in global rates of stillbirths

Studies published yesterday by The Lancet showed that Nigeria ranked second in the global rates of stillbirths.
The report said over 3,000 lives are lost to stillbirth a day across the world, most of which are preventable. Pakistan ranked first while Chad ranked third. Two-thirds of last year’s 2.6 million stillbirths were in Africa.

1. President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday appointed Muhammad Abdallah as the new Director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. He said the appointment took effect from January 11 and will be for a period of five years.

The older brother of Canadian singer Celine Dion has died of cancer, two days after her husband also died.
Daniel Dion, 59, died on Saturday near Montreal, a statement by the singer's spokeswoman said.
